TD*X – Who We Are
We will continually develop and optimize our process and thermal treatment program to be the best, most efficient, and safety oriented hazardous waste thermal treatment company in America. It is a matter of great pride as well as a significantly positive sign that for each of our market segments, our people and technology consistently perform at levels exceeding 3 times the efficiency and productivity of our nearest competitors. Our documented emissions have been shown to be factors of hundreds or thousands times below both regulatory standards and that of our next best competitor. A guiding principle for us to remember our roots is to be mindful at all times that we started on the pad, and we remain committed to forging strong hands on connections between our people and technology.

Employee Spotlight:
Jesse Patino, Lead Centrifuge Operator, joined TDX in 2012. Although he came to TDX with 10+ years of centrifuge operation experience, the complexity of the materials that he has had to managed at TDX have allowed him to polish his centrifuging skills to a world class level. In addition, he has been keen on mentoring, coaching, and developing young facility centrifuge operators. His acquired hazardous waste experience, project management skills, and his passion to lead have made the TDX centrifuging program a success. Jesse has a long list of successful projects including assisting with the commissioning of our biggest centrifuge at our Houston facility. His contributions in this project entailed advocating for process safety, training operators, and ensuring top performance of the new centrifuge. Jesse’s 10 years of commitment and dedication have allowed him to become the TDX Centrifuge Operations Manager. In honor of our accomplished Jesse Patino, follow along and when I say ‘Jesse”, you say “wee-fee”

Jim Gray is a Chemical Engineer who was recently promoted as our newest Associate. Jim joined us in 2013 while preparing for graduation from North Carolina State University, working weekends and free days to support the construction and commissioning of our newest TDU. Jim jumped in and helped the crew install and operate the plant in St. Croix on the largest refinery tank bottoms cleanup in US history. TD*X safely recycled 38,000 tons of hazardous secondary material solids to recover over 3 million gallons of refinery feedstock in the process. Jim now leads our HSM recycling operations of that unit at one of the largest refineries in the US. He also supports both process development, and the technical management of our radioactive mixed waste TDU.

Jeff McKeague, Operations Manager and Partner, is a profoundly experienced and committed hazardous waste professional. Jeff joined the thermal operations of our historic organization after completing his honorable service with the Army. He has worked every position on the plant, from security guard to the highest level of operational leadership. Jeff safely directs the complex activities of dozens of our engineers and plant operators, and coordinates the thermal operations at all three of our fixed based TDUs. In an exciting development in 2021 Jeff became one of our first two Associates to be promoted to Partner.

George Hay, Principal Engineer, is one of the most accomplished and experienced thermal engineers in the world. Ever since George left MIT with his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in the early ’80s, he has been innovating, designing and leading the construction and operation thermal treatment units for hazardous waste site cleanup. He eventually led a team of over 300 hazwaste professionals and cleaned up over 3 million tons of the most contaminated sites in America. Now at TD*X, George is a mentor to our engineering and operations team, he helps steward our technology, and continues to innovate with new applications of our advanced materials processing technology.

Gregg Meyers, Co-Founder and Partner, has done nothing else but operate, innovate, and continuously improve our technology since he left Washington University as a newly minted Mechanical Engineer and joined our technology commercialization program as a TDU pilot plant engineer in 1989. After successfully commercializing the first indirect TDU for PCB and hazwaste site cleanup, and transferring that technology to multiple other site cleanup applications, he came to TD*X to invent, patent and commercialize our radioactive mixed waste unit in 2002. Now, two decades later, he leads our activities at all three commercial sites, having grown our company many times over, and supports expansion of our technology to further exciting applications.

Carl Palmer, Founder and Managing Partner, took a giant leap to form TD*X in 1996 after being a key team member in the invention and commercialization of the indirect TDU technology. Carl, a Chemical Engineer, came to the thermal process group in 1987 as an experienced radioactive waste process engineer. He invented and built lab, pilot and commercial indirect TDUs and has become the leading expert in this technology application in the world. Carl holds four thermal desorption patents, and has contributed to texts and national consensus standards on the application and regulation of our technology. Now he both leads our vital company, but more importantly is transferring this technology to a new generation of thermal professionals at TD*X.

Peter Sulock, Engineering Manager and Partner, is a Mechanical Engineer from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Pete has deep background in thermal treatment, and came to TD*X in 2008 to help commission our indirect TDU for hazardous waste recycling. He was instrumental in creating our second TDU for recycling refinery HSM in 2013. Since then Pete has led all of our capital projects. He also mentors our young engineers as they execute projects and modifications under his direction. He was promoted to Associate in 2017, and became a TD*X Partner in 2021.
